On Tuesday, April 1st, SHARE Executive Board members and SHARE staff met with management and Labor Relations for our third contract negotiation session.

UMass Chan Management showed a slide presentation which explained the impact of the NIH Funding cuts, and how it is affecting the school.
We participated in a questions and answers session to understand fully the potential ramifications for our members.
We learned about the NIH grant approval process, and that these grants are currently not being approved, creating a large backlog of grant applications with no timetable for approval.
We discussed the effects of potential Medicaid budget cuts, and what that could mean for UMass Chan, and UMass Memorial Health.
Our team is continuing to brainstorm how to navigate these contract negotiations during these difficult and uncertain times. We will be meeting again in April with the UMass Chan team and continuing with our negotiations.
